The field behind the White Horse, South Cheriton was transformed into a mini Glastonbury on Saturday for the first-ever South Cheriton Music Festival and craft Fair.
A very good line up of bands and solo singers entertained the crowd, and there was an excellent bar and refreshments.
The event was thoroughly enjoyed by those who attended. But it is a pity that more people could not be bothered to support the show, which was staged to raise funds for the defibrillator.
John Samson and his team erected a wonderful array of tents and marquees to create a really good arena, with plenty of shelter in the case of bad weather.
We hope he will repeat the exercise next year. Please support him, and we will have a great and enjoyable event of which we can all be proud.
Chris Bailward has been in the saddle now for 5 days in his “2016 miles in 2016” challenge in aid of Sport Relief. On Sunday night he reached Widnes, via Carlisle, Morpeth, Newcastle, Durham, Northallerton , Bedale and Morecambe (“a sad town”).
Don’t forget South Cheriton’s Music Festival on Saturday 4th May, There is plenty going on, with live bands all afternoon and evening, right up to pub closing time.
Not content with winning the cricket, the Tabard Pilgrims fielded two quiz teams in the Half Moon Quiz on Sunday night. – and one, the “B” team, managed a dead heat with local champions The Moonies. The Pilgrims “B”clinched the competition by beating the Moonies in a typically obscure tie breaker. “Who is the new president of Austria?” As if we know of these things in Somerset.
