Cheltenham: Winterborne Longjohns returns to the Blog

Winterborne Longjohns, the Blog’s exclusive racing correspondent, has emerged from a long silence to favour us with his Cheltenham thoughts. Get your Visa cards out. Good luck everyone -ED

Winterborne has had a holiday away from the horses for the last three months following a financially disastrous eight weeks following a self created and totally deranged betting system which saw him lose a years winnings in but nine weeks. However a visit in the sunshine to Sandown Park on Saturday and the victory of  MINELLA  AWARDS at   8/1 encouraged him to tentatively take up arms again at Cheltenham.

His Old Mucker the one time owner of BARACCUDA, has backed APPLE JADE in Tuesdays Mares Hurdle and the well supported CAUSE OF CAUSES in Wednesdays Cross Country event. Other advised bets are LETS DANCE each way in Thursday’s opener, YANWORTH in the Champion Hurdle. PROJECT BLUEBOOK e.w. at 16/1 in Wednesday’s Fred Winter and DEBUCHET in the same days Bumper while fearing the Milbourne Port pair in the Gold Cup DJACKADAM may still do the business on Friday. Although MORE OF THAT may still spring a big priced surprise here.

Finally for those intrepid punters whose approach to following this four day meeting is more akin to that of a Building Society, Bank or Mortgage Broker ALTIOR, DOUVAN and UKNOWHATIMEANHARRY should all win their respective races and pay rather more than even money to a £25.00 Treble.

Thanks Winterborne. Your editor is on Colin Tizzard’s Native River in the Gold Cup, which he managed to secure at 16/1 some weeks ago.
