We asked readers to submit fundraising ideas. Hear are some very useful ones from Steve Gleghorn in South Cheriton. Thanks Steve.
Dear Editor,
A few suggestions on how to raise the money
- A one off precept (ring-fenced) on the Parish community charge, which would by my rough calculation cost each household between £15 to £40 per year
- Everyone who donates (say £10 or over) gets a certificate allowing then the right to sail a small toy boat (max length 18inches) on the pond. A competition for the best boat to be held once a year. The Certificate could be designed in an old fashioned English script and I’m sure many would cherish it and have it framed.
- Has anyone approached the following people for a donation?
- South West water
- Lottery Funding
- Natural England
- EU Grants http://www.eubusiness.com/funding
- Bring and Bid Bric-a-brac sale in the village hall. I know I’ve got a lot of rubbish in my garage!!
- Take a look at this website if no-one has already http://freshwaterhabitats.org.uk/habitats/pond/pond-clinic/funding-pond-project/
- This makes interesting reading and may spark a few ideas http://childrey.org.uk/village-pond/
I hope this helps.
It certainly does – We have passed them on to Charles -Ed
