Following their sell-out success at Stock Gaylard in July, the Trio Violetta are reprising their Parson Woodforde concert in Horsington Parish Church on 16 September in aid of the roof fund. Apart from being entertained by some delightful music, the audience can expect a wonderful cream tea to be served after the concert.
Trio Voiletta is a string ensemble comprising Sylvie Barry, Frances Eustace and Janet Coles, all Horsington/Templecombe residents. They will play music by Haydn, Boccherini and Oswald, with Richard Gaunt assuming the character of the parson and providing readings from his diaries.
Parson Woodforde was an 18th century, Castle Cary-born cleric who kept a diary for 45 years. Obviously a good bloke, they named a pub after him!
His diary provides a unique insight into rural life in 18th century Somerset, and Horsington in particular.
