Under Milk Wood

Prepare yourselves for an evening of music, laughter and pathos as familiar and new faces from Shaftesbury Arts Centre portray the ghoulish, scabrous humour and eroticism of Dylan Thomas’s radio play. The Rabelaisian romp will be fully staged and costumed and runs nightly at 7.30pm from 25th-29th April. There is a well stocked licensed bar and drinks can be taken into the auditorium in plastic containers. Hot drinks and ice creams are also for sale.

See Horsington’s own Chris Bailward multi-tasking as love-lorn draper Mog Edwards, serial spouse Mr Waldo and PC Attila Rees.

Don’t miss it.

Urgent: Sheep missing from Horsington Marsh

Penny Nagle reports: We have lost five sheep overnight – 3 black face, 2 white face from Felthams Farm on Horsington Marsh.  If anyone finds them please text Penny on 07768 832954.  Thank you!

We hope this is nothing more sinister than a combination of adventurous sheep and insecure fencing -Ed

Cheltenham: Winterbourne’s day 4 fancies

Winterborne longjohns, the Blog's racing correspondent
Winterbourne Longjohns,

The Blog’s exclusive racing correspondent Winterbourne Longjohns writes…

Final day and having missed LL ROCKERFELLER (2nd @33-1 -Ed) by concentrating on his guests at lunch,  today Winterborne will be again entertaining three distinguished racing enthusiasts , one of whom has flown over for Cheltenham Week from the Argentine.

He hopes to be lucky with WINTERS ESCAPE each way in the 2.10, WORLDS END in the 2.50, DJACKADAM, and MORE OF THAT in the Gold Cup, SWEET AS A NUT or possibly ASK DADDY in the 4.10 and finally DADS IN TROUBLE in the 4.50. So enjoy yourselves and be lucky !

Cheltenham: Winterbourne’s late wire

The Blog’s exclusive racing correspendent Winterborne Longjohns has sent us a late wire from his London HQ:

After Cause of Causes’ spectatular win, Douvan’s downfall and four agonisingly close seconds,  Winterbourne is backing Top Notch, Jury Duty Uxiandre and Let’s Dance to give Ruby and Willie a much needed winner. Good Luck !

Your editor is also on Jury Duty.

Winterbournes’s Cheltenham selections

Cheltenham: Winterborne Longjohns returns to the Blog

Winterborne Longjohns, the Blog’s exclusive racing correspondent, has emerged from a long silence to favour us with his Cheltenham thoughts. Get your Visa cards out. Good luck everyone -ED

Winterborne has had a holiday away from the horses for the last three months following a financially disastrous eight weeks following a self created and totally deranged betting system which saw him lose a years winnings in but nine weeks. However a visit in the sunshine to Sandown Park on Saturday and the victory of  MINELLA  AWARDS at   8/1 encouraged him to tentatively take up arms again at Cheltenham.

His Old Mucker the one time owner of BARACCUDA, has backed APPLE JADE in Tuesdays Mares Hurdle and the well supported CAUSE OF CAUSES in Wednesdays Cross Country event. Other advised bets are LETS DANCE each way in Thursday’s opener, YANWORTH in the Champion Hurdle. PROJECT BLUEBOOK e.w. at 16/1 in Wednesday’s Fred Winter and DEBUCHET in the same days Bumper while fearing the Milbourne Port pair in the Gold Cup DJACKADAM may still do the business on Friday. Although MORE OF THAT may still spring a big priced surprise here.

Finally for those intrepid punters whose approach to following this four day meeting is more akin to that of a Building Society, Bank or Mortgage Broker ALTIOR, DOUVAN and UKNOWHATIMEANHARRY should all win their respective races and pay rather more than even money to a £25.00 Treble.

Thanks Winterborne. Your editor is on Colin Tizzard’s Native River in the Gold Cup, which he managed to secure at 16/1 some weeks ago.
