The Dinner to raise funds for the Village Hall, postponed from March, will now take place on Saturday 27th October. Come and make a party of the evening and enjoy excellent food cooked and served by the Village Hall Committee and superb wine (because you bring your own). The Mill Singers (North Dorset’s Favourite Male Voice Choir) will be joined by The Braintree Male Voice Choir ,on tour from Essex, in presenting Music for a Spring Evening at St John’s Church Milborne Port, on Sunday 13th May at 7 p.m. This will be a highly entertaining concert with Songs from the Shows, Spirituals and Folk Songs. Tickets are £10 and include a glass of wine and nibbles – they are available from Wayne’s Butchers in Milborne Port, or on the door.

Dear Mr Editor,
May I once again claim the hospitality of your esteemed blog to report that I heard the first cuckoo of the summer whilst walking my dog Winkle on the marsh.
The time was precisely 10.55 this morning, Saturday 21 st April.
This has put a spring in my step, and I hope it does the same for you, as the Blog has been very quiet these past few months.
