{"id":6312,"date":"2020-05-07T11:42:01","date_gmt":"2020-05-07T11:42:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/horsington.blog2.idnet.com\/?p=6312"},"modified":"2020-05-07T11:42:01","modified_gmt":"2020-05-07T11:42:01","slug":"coronavirus-latest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/horsington.blog2.idnet.com\/?p=6312","title":{"rendered":"Coronavirus latest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.somersetlive.co.uk\/\">\u201cSomerset Live\u201d<\/a> , whose muddled and inconsistent reporting of Coronavirus figures has confused many <em>(including your editor -Ed<\/em>), here is the position at Thursday 7 May:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cases<\/strong> in Somerset County \u2013 549. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>New cases<\/strong> are declining rapidly: April 29- 20, April 30 -14, May 1 -9, May 2 -8, May 3-3, May 4 -9 \u2013 May 5-1 (NHS England figures).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hospital Deaths <\/strong>in Somerset County \u2013 60 \u2013 of which 18 are in\nYeovil Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Care Home deaths in Somerset\u00a0 <\/strong>\u00a0are difficult to report as no detailed figures are available. Somerset Live claims that deaths in care homes are around 50 per cent higher than usual for this time of year \u2013 that equates to 32 additional deaths, not all of which will be Conronairus-related.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The problem with Somerset Live is that they do not seem to understand  local boundaries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Somerset county consists only of &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mendip_District\">Mendip<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sedgemoor\">Sedgemoor<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/South_Somerset\">South\nSomerset<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Somerset_West_and_Taunton\">Somerset West and Taunton<\/a>. They keep on including figures for Bath and North\nSomerset and do not provide figures for individual local authorities in the\nsame report. A separate report on May 5<sup>th<\/sup> &nbsp;states that 27 people have died in South\nSomerset from Coronavirus -related conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Blog understands that Yeovil Hospital is very quiet, with very\nfew patients. People with out-patient appointments are being seen in \u201cvirtual\nconsultations\u201d, over the phone.
