<\/a><\/a>The newly refurbished\u00a0<\/a>Westlands Yeovil<\/strong><\/a> will stage an impressive \u00a0programme of opera, ballet, music, theatre, classic cinema and childrens’ theatre and film this spring. Some events are live, beamed direct from a major international theatre or concert hall. The programmes start at the end of March.<\/p>\n

Horsington\u2019s Penny Nagle’s\u00a0<\/strong>,company Flaming Lassie Ltd<\/a> has been appointed by the \u00a0centre to run its film and event Cinema programme.<\/p>\n

The first event is The Royal Opera House\u2019s much loved classic \u201cSleeping Beauty<\/strong>\u201d<\/a> which will be screened at 7pm on Wednesday 29th<\/sup>\u00a0March.\u00a0\u00a0 Following this will be the full Royal Opera House season including Puccini\u2019s \u201cMadama Butterfly\u201d<\/strong><\/a> on Sunday 2 April at 2pm, George Balanchine\u2019s fabulous ballet \u201cJewels<\/strong>\u201d<\/a> on Sunday 16th<\/sup> April at 2pm,\u00a0 Founder Choreographer Frederick Ashton\u2019s \u201cThe Dream\/Symphonic Variations\/Marguerite and Armand<\/strong>\u201d<\/a> on Sunday 11 June at 2pm, and as a grand finale the wonderful Jonas Kaufman makes his role debut in Verdi\u2019s \u201cOtello<\/strong>\u201d<\/a> on Sunday 2 July at 2pm.<\/p>\n

Music events include \u201cFrom the New World\u201d by the Berliner Philharmoniker<\/strong> Live from Berlin conducted by the charismatic conductor Gustavo Dudamel<\/strong> on Friday 9 June at 6.30pm.\u00a0 The orchestra will perform John Adam\u2019s<\/strong> \u201cCity Noir\u201d and Dvo\u0159\u00e1k\u2019s<\/strong> symphony From the New\u00a0World.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

Theatre events on screen include the fantastic David Suchet<\/strong><\/a> as Lady Bracknell in Oscar Wilde\u2019s \u201cImportance of Being Earnest<\/strong>\u201d<\/a>.\u00a0 This production was critically acclaimed with four stars from every national newspaper, and really brings new comedic insight to the play.<\/p>\n

Film Events include Mel Brooks\u2019s satirical comedy \u201cThe Producers<\/strong>\u201d<\/a> followed by a talk on comedy by Anil Gupta<\/strong><\/a>, whose Producer credits include The Office, Goodness Gracious Me, and Citizen Khan on Sunday 21 May at 2.30pm.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Actor Olivia Williams<\/strong><\/a> (Sixth Sense, Rushmore, Lucky Break, The Halcyon) talks about \u201cTo Kill a Mockingbird<\/strong>\u201d<\/a> after a screening of the film on Sunday 4 June at 2.30pm.<\/p>\n

For children aged 7-13 Bruton\u2019s Youth Cinema Foundation<\/strong> <\/a>workshops how to make a film with The Castaway Theatre Group<\/strong><\/a> before a screening of \u201cBugsy Malone<\/strong>\u201d<\/a> on Sunday 18 June at 2.30pm.<\/p>\n
