Horsington Pond has potential, but this is going too far!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Horsington parish councilors Ian Snowdon<\/strong> and Charles James<\/strong> attended the Area East meeting of South Somerset District Council on Wednesday 8th June, to put the case for partial funding for the Horsington pond project<\/strong><\/a> through a community development grant.<\/p>\n

The project team has been given good advice, support and encouragement from Tim Cook, the community development officer, \u00a0from the very beginning. With his presentation plus Ian and Charles, and with the \u00a0support from \u00a0ward councillors Tim Inglefield and William Wallace, \u00a0the parish council has been awarded \u00a35,000 towards the cost of the project. The vote in favour was unanimous.<\/p>\n

This will cover around 40% of the total costs so there is still a long way to go but we are on the way to achieving the funding for this village-enhancing project.<\/p>\n

Charles James said “I am very excited and pleased that we are at this stage. We (the parish council) will be standing at the village fete on Saturday so please do come along and see the details and encourage or criticise (as I am sure some will) as you see fit!”<\/p>\n

The question now is how to raise the extra \u00a37 thousand or so?<\/p>\n

The village fete is on Saturday 11th June. No-one involved has told the Blog anything about it, so we’re not able to tell you much. -Ed<\/em><\/p>\n
