We are lucky to live in villages with good pubs and excellent licensees, and in these hard times we should not take them for granted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As usual, they will be working hard for your pleasure. We asked both pubs to let us know what is happening this Christmas and New Year. We are still waiting to hear from the White Horse, but here is the Half Moon\u2019s programme:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday 23 December:<\/strong> Lunchtime Carvery as usual. An excuse to get out of the kitchen! <strong>Christmas Eve:<\/strong> Carols and mince pies from 8pm, with accompaniment by the Horsington Marsh Chamber Orchestra (Janet Coles and Brian Tunnicliffe)<br \/>\n<strong>Christmas Day:<\/strong> A quick pint from midday -2pm. The annual ritual of showing off your new M&amp;S jersey and \u2013oops -spilling a drink down it.<br \/>\n<strong>Sunday 30 December:<\/strong> Come and pit your brains against Horsington\u2019s finest in the last quiz of 2012.\u00a0 8pm. Teams of 4-(ish). Leave your mobile phone at home.<br \/>\n<strong>New Years Eve<\/strong> : closed all day .<br \/>\n<strong>New Year\u2019s day:<\/strong> Delicious brunch from midday- 3pm. Bar closes at 4pm.<br \/>\n<strong>Wednesday 2nd January<\/strong>. Music Night 8 pm.<br \/>\n<strong>Until 30 January:<\/strong> Balvenie Whisky promotion. Enjoy three different delicious upmarket Balvenie\u00a0 malts for \u00a38.95 and receive a free Monkey Shoulder*.<br \/>\n<strong>Starting in January:<\/strong> Curry Night returns. 2 for \u00a310. Tuesday evenings.
